Community Living

A group of parents founded SLI in 1971.  They wanted their children to have the opportunity to live in a community-based home.  This wish led to the opening of Topeka’s first group home in 1972.  Our first home served 12 men and women from Topeka and surrounding areas.  Today, we provide a place to call home to 100 men and women ranging from 18 to 84.

SLI owns 21 homes in a variety of Topeka neighborhoods.  Each SLI home meets all Federal, State, and local licensing requirements and fulfill best practice standards established through CARF.
