Joni Fitzpatrick began working at SLI in March of 2005 and has worked with the IDD and aging populations for over 34 years. Since joining SLI, she has worked in the Program Department in several capacities - Community Living Coordinator, Adult Life Skills Coordinator, Targeted Case Manager, and Community Living Director before serving as Vice President of Community Living. Joni was honored with the Outstanding Staff Award in 2006 and Sara’s Hope Award in 2019 at the SLI Annual Awards. Joni is a Kansas Institute for Positive Behavior Support (KIPBS) graduate and Red Cross instructor.
Sharing this knowledge and experience helps build a stronger staff, however, Joni says she is most proud of her work at SLI when she can help someone accomplish what they never thought possible. She feels it is important to build trust and show everyone, particularly individuals with past struggles, that they are believed in. Nothing is more rewarding than watching self-esteem and pride grow as individuals start believing in themselves and feeling a true sense of belonging.
