Karen Streeter graduated from John Brown University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She has over 34 years of leadership, fundraising, and marketing experience with nonprofits in KC and Tulsa. Under her leadership, Sheffield Place became the first homeless shelter in the nation to provide two of the three top therapeutic interventions for traumatized children. As a result, Sheffield Place was recognized as a best practice by the National Center for Family Homelessness.
Karen is thrilled to serve the clients and mission of SLI for several reasons. First, Karen is passionate about storytelling and connection. She understands that success in anything is built upon relationships. Second, SLI brought Karen back home to Topeka and her family. Finally, Karen’s life has been touched by the presence of two people living with IDD. Both experiences have taught Karen that everyone deserves to not only be seen but to be a part of our community.
