RoadRunners Donate Tickets to SLI Clients
Topeka RoadRunner players stepped off the ice and handed out free tickets to future games Wednesday.
Jim Garrison of Garrison Insurance & Financial Services, Inc. and Head Coach Scott Langer teamed up to donate tickets to people served by SLI. Players delivered the tickets Wednesday.
“I think it’s awesome that we can get back into the community and help out as they support us,” said Topeka RoadRunner Marshall Bowery.
SLI says that the main goal of the organization is to engage people who use their services engaged in the community, but they say sometimes the funds are not always there to do so. With Wednesday’s donation clients will be able to enjoy a night of fun in the coming months.
“This is something they love,” said JoAnn Long, vice-president of development, SLI. “They don’t have the money to be able to afford these tickets and with this donation it gives them the chance to get out in the community and enjoy some of the activities.”
Some of the SLI clients will be heading to the Kansas Expocentre this Saturday to use their tickets.
“Clients love to meet people and being able to meet the players they are going to see on the ice, that’s pretty awesome for them,” said Long.
